When one is born again, he or she begins the adventure of a lifetime. Walking with Jesus Christ is a way of life totally different from the life one led before. It will contain all the elements of a great story, including agonies and ecstasies, unexpected twists and turns; one never knows what the Lord will do next in his life.
The 3rd chapter of the Bible’s Book of John is where Jesus tells about the born-again experience, and he goes on to say this:
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it,
but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.
So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
So is everyone who is born of the Spirit … in other words, the life of the born-again believer will be like the wind, you can’t tell where it’s going to go, you’ll only see the results of it as it swings and turns this way and that, all ordered by the Lord himself.
What did Jesus say about it?
A religious Rabbi came to Jesus asking the way of salvation. Jesus said something so shocking that the rabbi staggered, asking how this could possibly be. Jesus didn’t soften his words. In fact, he said:
“MOST ASSUREDLY I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit,
he CANNOT enter the kingdom of God. John 3:5
He went on to say that no one can enter the Kingdom of God UNLESS he IS born again.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit
is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You MUST be born again.’
Jesus didn’t say it would help. It’s not a suggestion. Jesus said one MUST be born again. The Rabbi he was speaking to asked the obvious questions — WHAT? and HOW?
What is being “born again” all about?
